Henry Schubell (1906 – 2001) was a Danish cabinetmaker and designer, famous for his pioneering work in modern Danish design. After finishing school, he began his career as a cabinetmaker's apprentice in Helsingør, where he was also honored with a medal for his craftsmanship.
Schubell was a significant figure in the middle of the 20th century and played a central role in the Danish design movement. He was particularly recognized for his contribution to furniture design and interiors and helped shape the distinctive Scandinavian style, which quickly gained international popularity. A pioneer of modernism, he created furniture that was simple, elegant and practical.
In collaboration with Henry Schubell's family, Warm Nordic takes care of the design legacy of the skilled carpenter and continuously launches new, uncompromising designs under the name House of Henry Schubell.
Schubell also collaborated with other well-known Danish designers and architects such as Arnold Madsen and Philip Arctander and contributed significantly to establishing Denmark as a leading center for modern design. Their collaboration, known as "Madsen & Schubell", where Schubell designed furniture and produced wooden frames, which Arnold Madsen upholstered and marketed, attracted great attention internationally. Their work is still highly valued and collected by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide.
