DESIGN CLASSICS OF THE MODERN HOME
INVITE THE 50'S INTO THE LIVING ROOM
Design classics from the 50s and 60s fit beautifully into contemporary decor, regardless of whether the style is minimalist, classic or trendy. Many pieces of furniture from this period have a timeless expression and a craftsmanship extravagance that stands out from modern interiors. Therefore, the classic furniture sets a unique mark on the interior, and in combination with contemporary design, the home gets a personal and embracing style.
The spacious Surfboard coffee table was designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen in 1959. The table top's design is inspired by the shape of a surfboard and gives the coffee table an inherent lightness that makes it slide effortlessly into a modern interior. The coffee table is available with an elegant shelf in solid wood and French wicker, adding an extra dimension to the iconic design.
THE JOY OF GOOD DESIGN
A good place to invest in design is the soft furniture such as armchairs and sofas, where both comfort and aesthetics are essential. It is furniture that should last for many years and be able to withstand daily use. Many of our armchairs are classics from the 50s, which are especially designed for good sitting comfort. You can feel it, for example, when you sit in the Lean Back armchair, which is enormously spacious and well-padded, and which has a perfect inclination that supports the back. With our classic Lean Back armchair, you get both fullness, sublime sitting comfort and a nice piece of furniture for the living room.
CLASSIC STYLE WITH CONTEMPORARY ELEGANCE
The bright home gains personality and charisma in the meeting with classic furniture such as our Mr. Olsen sofa from 1958 and Trombone lamp in brass, which add edge to an otherwise simple interior.
It is not always clear whether a design was created 50 years ago or today. But classic designs from the 50s and 60s have a certain heaviness and quality that testify to a simpler time, where solid materials and good craftsmanship were the focus. Precisely for this reason, timeless classic design creates a beautiful contrast to today's trends and interiors, which often experiment with materials, shape and color.
MOODFUL LIGHTING
Furnish your home with beautiful lamps that provide the finest lighting. Lamps have a practical function in our homes, but one must not underestimate the aesthetic that a beautifully designed lamp can contribute.
Opal glass can do something special in the field of light, and therefore the renowned lighting designer Svend Aage Holm-Sørensen has chosen this particular material for the Opal Shade pendant to create a particularly warm glow. The unique 50's pendant is well suited as lighting above the dining table or coffee table, where it provides a pleasant dim light for both dinner, movies and parties.
ICONIC AND EYE-CATCHING DESIGN CLASSICS
If you want an interior that exudes exclusivity and Danish design, an eye-catching armchair like Fried Egg is a good choice. The armchair stands out from today's furniture with its unique style and extraordinary design. With the modern textiles, the chair draws references to the present and can thereby be included in both a classic and more modern, minimalist decor. Here, Fried Egg is combined with a contemporary side table in dark wood and an organic shape that harmonizes with the chair's playful style and, together with the aubergine-coloured textile, creates a subdued and exclusive style in the living room.
COLORFUL RENEWAL IN 50'S STYLE
Solid Danish design in pastel colours, a perfect combination for today's home, which strives for both tradition and renewal. If you have a small living room or an empty corner in the home, the light, elegant sofa and armchair from the Dwell series can add something unique and exclusive to the room.
The Dwell series was designed by Danish Hans Olsen in 1956 and has a welcoming design that invites you to settle down. The sofa and lounge chair are fully upholstered and available in several versions, depending on whether you want classic leather or a lighter expression with textile, including the popular bouclé, which gives extra character to the lounge chair.
